ActronAir is an Australian owned Manufacturer and Distributor of Air Conditioning products that has enjoyed consistent growth over the company's 35-year operation.



The Application Engineer has the overall responsibility and accountability to gather & interpret the HVAC systems operational data to assist in the development & support of ActronAir products.


The role demands technical and numerical analytical skills as well as a strong understanding of industry developments, regulations and legislation. Taking a lead role in improving & maintaining high quality & reliable products the Application Engineer will be responsible for;


  • Keeping abreast of new technologies & trends, focused in the controls space.
  • Assist in the development of future product roadmaps, IoT strategies.
  • Completing root cause analysis of complex technical issues, including failed componentry, presenting quality reports to stakeholders.
  • Leading ActronAir Quality System investigations related to product improvements & faults.
  • Conduct remote monitoring of products in the field, reporting on their performance.
  • Provide and share technical expertise in the upskilling of others.
  • Technical support for products in the field when complex issues arise, including phone support & site attendance (some interstate travel may be required).

Acting as a key link between the Engineering, Service & Technology teams, the ideal candidate for the role would be someone who has attention to detail, is flexible, confident and able to work as part of a team or on their own initiative. They would also have excellent communications skills, with the ability to explain technical information at varying levels of detail, with a high customer focus.



Suitably qualified candidates with the following skills and experience should apply:

  • Min 3+ years in the HVAC industry
  • An understanding and experience software fault finding, system hardware and applications programming of BMS/HVAC control systems
  • An understanding of different communication buses (Ethernet, RS-485/422, RS-232, USB, Etc.)
  • A demonstrable understanding of several protocols: WiFi, TCP/IP, Modbus, BACnet, Profibus, CAN bus, UART
  • Good time-management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Problem solver and customer-centred
  • Responsiveness
  • Team spirit;
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders

Experience in the following areas is not strictly required, but will be highly regarded:

  • Mechatronic Engineering
  • Certificate 3 or Diploma qualification of Air-conditioning and Refrigeration
  • Certifications of completed training of BMS control solutions
  • Project Management
